Judo Shodan to Nidan: What does it mean?

Approximately 1 year and 11 months after receiving my Shodan, my Nidan rank was publically confirmed and announced, at a Travis Steven seminar here in NC. It’s been an interesting journey.

When I received my Shodan, I knew it was time to return to my BJJ roots. I had grown to be a crusty purple belt, with no regular ground instruction. My game was still sharp, but wasn’t as creative and flexible as it used to be.
